Happy OCTOBEAR. It’s so good to be back. I have to admit, life has changed a lot since I started this comic just over a year ago. I am a little ashamed I haven’t gotten more pages done, but I am very proud of the pages so far. As far as art goes this my favorite work of my own so far, and the color work Noah has brought to the table (with the help of Matthew and John) has just made it amazing. I’m excited to at least get back on the weekly update schedule.
Well, for months now, that bear in the street has been perpetually running at Joel and the gang. All this time, that bear has had a secret. It’s the first living mutant bear encounter! I guess it’s sort of like a sugar glider. Maybe since it’s a bear it could be called a honey glider. If anyone has a clever name for the flying squirrel bear, let me know. Skin flap bear? I don’t know.
That’s all for now. It’s good to be back. Thanks for being such a patient and understanding group of readers.
Ethan
nananananananana nananananananana Bat Beeeeear!
WOOOOOO!!!
Great to have you back! Can’t wait to read more of the story!
YES!!!!
The unBEARable wait is over!
Awww yeah! Now that it’s back, I know it will have ursine stitches!
Welcome back Ethan. The wait is totally worth it.
Welcome back. Love the Honey Glider.
i see what you did there!!!
WOO HOO!
Yeah! Right on! Ethan is BACK!
Welcome back, sir! Missed this.
That’s a mighty fine page. Thank you for it.
How about “bearoplane”?
There’s no better way to return after a long hiatus than a big pile of wtf. I missed this.
Rad. Welcome back. My favorite part about this page is the face in the side mirror of the van. Great little details like that make your art very enjoyable.
Do a Bear-rel roll!
YES!!!!
and they spot their first muta-bear..
I love that we’re starting small with a flying squirrel bear. That’s just how it works in videogames, you send the goomba out first then ramp things up slowly
Dadadadadaaaaa BAT BEAR!!!
It’s great to see this updating again.
I have been waiting for this moment for months! Welcome back! Also, I just got a copy of Chumble Spuzz Volume 1 in the mail yesterday and I’m loving it so far! Great timing right?
For the sake of personal amusement, I imagine the wing flaps as a giant bear trench coat.
Which means this bear’s not only flashing Nigel like a creepy sex offender, but he’s doing it while preforming a horizontal leap off of a tree.
BALLSY!
Air Bear, or perhaps Aer Bear.
Looks like a bearachute to me…
I hope that bear is a lot lighter than it looks, or he’s going to end up like the kid who tries to “parachute” off the roof with an umbrella. 😉
Bears no longer poop in the woods, they poop overhead.
His name is totally Bat Bear
It’s a sweet lil’ squirrel bear. How cute… 😀
why is everyone calling it a bat?!? its quite clearly gliding – ie. a sugarglidebear! BATBEAR is in the top right corner of the website banner!
::insert obligatory HOLY SHIT BAT COUNTRY meme here::
Bearplane?
Bearachute?
Awesome way to come back! First mutant bear! Awesome, awesome, awesome. Did I say awesome? Because it was awesome!
Flapybeara.
Bear + Squirrel = Barrel
Cmon guys, seriously? It’s an Air Bear!
His name is Theodore, deal with it.
Yay! My birthday is next Tuesday, so this is like an early birthday present. Best. Present. Ever.
Wahwarwoowah! What a return! Good to have you (and the bears) back 🙂
It’s Rocky. Soon you will see a bear with moose antlers. Bearwinkle.
Haha! “Rocky” is what I named the folder containing his color layers.
Ursus Arctos Horriblis Volans – or UAHV. It’s science, yo!
Wow–now things are totally getting wicked. I’m totally in love with this gliding bear!
What a return and the introduction of a horrific yet cool addition to the destructible family of bears! I have been reading this comic since it appeared and have always been impressed with the production value.
Come now, get real, people. This is quite clearly the bane Australians warned foreigners all this time about – the fearsome DROPBEAR…
Oh thank bear god. I thought noone else would realize the power of the DROP BEAR name
oh cheese! mutant bear time?
Ooh! I know– it’s Bearomyini Bearcomus Sabearnus!
Best. Tuesday. EVER. 🙂
maybe bAIR? 😀
I know what to call it: Bearaglider
Welcome back! Great to see more of the madness! Keep’em coming, please.
This may be a bit late to the party, but that bear looks like a straight-up Squibber to me.
Wow. Catching up on BM! (Oops unintentionally funny abbreviation). This page is just awesome. Ethan your pacing is just great. The glimpse of an Octobear at the beginning to wet our appetites then all the character building, then while the tension is rising you drop that flying squirrel bear at the reader! Wow, just great! …love it.
