Great big apologies for the late post. I was out of town on Wednesday, and I do not have a good portable way of updating pages, so if I don’t remember to take care of it before a trip, it doesn’t get done. I’m balancing a lot these days.
Well, I thank my RN wife for the input on this page so that Keller sounded like she kind of knew what she was talking about. I asked her what she would do in this situation and she gave me all the details.
That’s all for now… thanks for reading!
Ethan
I think I remember something about orange juice helping in this kind of situation. Duct tape too.
TracTor… are you MacGyver?
Maybe they are summoning Ultramegabeartron?
Also nice that we are finally getting some backstory for Keller, beyond ‘stinky vegan’.
They’re calling in an airstrike first. Obviously.
I think you mean a BEARSTRIKE. I’ll see myself out.
Wooo, new bearmageddon! I don’t comment much around here (or anywhere, really), but I just wanted to say thanks for keeping this comic going in the midst of everything else you’ve got going on, Ethan.
Thanks I appreciate that. It really is the one thing I consistently do even though I don’t make money at it yet. I’m just confident it will be a great book and movie at some point. Or at least book but one can hope 🙂
Great coloring! The blood is bloody.
I they made a live action Movie Adaption to this WebComic cause this post apocalyptic Dramedy action adventure story makes a perfect hollywood adult comedy flick, and it would make more money than ZombieLand as I could ever imagine. Ethan, you have the best Diversity in Cartooning and StoryTelling that I have ever seen, your as diverse as the Game Designer: Shigeru Miyamoto, the guy who created both Zelda and Mario at the same time, if there were new comic book adaptions of zelda and mario, I would like you to write and illustrate them both in your incredible Diversity.
I appreciate that! I have never tried to write suspense, but I get a lot of people saying this is suspenseful so that is super encouraging. I love thrillers. Some day, movie. Some. day.
I’m expecting…BEAR TANK. A TANK made out of BEARS.
Or a bear made out of tanks 😛
Kellar is turning out to be the most important member of the group, aside from Killdeer. I wonder what useful skill she will pull out of her turnipy ass next!
staying at a holiday inn express helps too.
A tourniquet is a bad idea it completely cuts off the bloodflow causing any tissue to die off.
At first aid training they told us that where you place a tourniquet the doctor will amputate.
then again whats her name seems to know what she is doing.
Not to be knitpicky, but well… ok I guess I do mean to be knitpicky (am I spelling that right? Is knitpicky even a real word or is it two words? I don’t know. I tried)… Anyway, a tourniquet would be a bad idea. The aim is to stop the bleeding, not cut off all blood flow to his hand. In most cases, simply applying pressure to the wound is enough, even ideal, as cutting off the blood flow for an extended period of time could cause necrosis… A tourniquet would have to be the absolute last resort, as it could make the problem worse in the long run. Like amputation worse… Okay, I’m done being a butt now.
Oh, and i just noticed piet’s comment. Directly above mine. Oops. Sheesh.
Depending on how bad the wound is though. im pretty sure a bear would make a MESS out of your hand a tourniquet might be the road to go down, you have to remember in this situation just popping down to your nearest hospital isnt an option and first aid equipment is limited. however that option is likely to lead to losing the hand its better than bleeding out because they dont have the luxury of cleaning dressing elevation and pressure and waiting for it to stop bleeding the continued blood loss would result in fatigue, lessened alertness possible loss of conciousness and in a bear attack situation where you have to run(most people naturally swing their arms for this- pushes blood down the hand), climb defend yourself etc it will slow you down and your group which could get you killed. some treatment is better than no treatment. my point being it might be better to do the tourniquet now then apply proper treatment when you have the chance.
Except that the odds of follow up treatment are nil meaning that the tourniquet would directly lead to the dying off of the tissue that is behind it.
Willfully inflicting necrosis is a death sentence without follow up treatment.
