Today’s page leads into a whole scene I have been excited to get around to. I love focusing on Gog’s and his obsession for a bit.
I know that Kickstarter campaigns are all over right now, but I think it is a great way to buy stuff you never could have otherwise, and a great way to support talent by voting with your money. I’m excited that River City Ransom funded! I want to mention two more here quickly. First, Space Bastards is a comic my friends are working on about the postal service of the future. Eric Peterson created it. He is the guy I made the “Jesus Christ: In the Name of the Gun” comics with, and though I basically disowned my contribution to that project, Eric is a lifelong friend and a talented guy. Also, another good friend, Doug TenNapel is doing another Sketchbook archives volume. It has already funded, but volume one was gorgeous and that is because they met a ton of stretch goals. If you like art books you gotta get in on this because these won’t be available in stores.
As the the Bear War Print, I think I am going to throw in the towel. What I will do is, if you ordered a spot, you can trade it for a bearicature, or I can refund you. A bearicature will put you in the comic as a bystander or someone getting attacked by bears in the background and sometimes foreground. If you prefer a refund send me an email. I will go through and email everyone who ordered one individually. I simply can’t add that print to my list of stuff to do right now. I have never been as busy as I am today.
Thanks for being a great group of readers/commenters. I love getting to be the guy who posts a new page of this comic every week.
Ethan
Nice job with the crushed skull! Glad to see Gogs actually pull this off (if at least on a dead bear).
Sorry to hear about the War Print, but that is awesome that you are so busy. Means all your work is paying off! Keep it up!
Unless that’s one of those physics hax where for some reason speed overcomes durability, that guy has superpowers :V
I’m really hoping for Gogs’ wannabe toughness to develop into a Charles Atlas Superpower. That would be stupendous.
Not to be that guy, but wasn’t the bear killed by Joel missing a tooth?
YOU’RE THAT GUY
Oh no – now I’m that guy too
We are all that guy at some point.
Anyway, the humans see the bears as bears, interchangeable with each other. So all bears will look alike and are drawn the same except for the occasional hybrid bears (hybrears?). The bears see the humans in the same way, and Im sure all humans look the same to bears (tasty).
It’s the problem I have in video games. All my enemies look identical. I want to know that the Bandit v3 has his own backstory, that there will be a grieving mother as the result of my sword, that my enemies have reasons for existing beyond a minor obstacle on the way to my McGuffin.
Eh, enough talk. Great job Ethan! 3 buckskins on Bear!
YES! He did it! Well at least he can die happy now. Poor Gogs…
It’s a good thing Gogs is behind a fence–although I am certain that bear is going to find a way to get inside.
Best not to push your luck now, Gogs. Stick to Dickinson’s lessons for this bear.
I feel like this may be the time for other survivors to swoop in, save the day, and be introduced to the story.
Gogs might not die guys. It might be enough for him to have a big realization that his tough guy persona doesn’t hold up in reality. I don’t think we’ve gotten to know Gogs enough yet, but, more importantly, I don’t think Gogs has gotten to know himself enough yet.
I also think we all want to see Gogs develop to the point that he can fight monsters FOR REAL.
Time to fight bear with BEAR!
Bwfore I get into my comment, I just wsnt to say that I do appreciate your work for this comic. It looks great so far! Don’t give up on that print, though! That could be a VERY iconic scene for the comic, and I’m sure that fans would love to see it! Please at leadt try to keep it open to make. I’d love to see how it’d look! It shouldn’t matter how long it should take! Maybe just keep it with who you had pay to be in it and just let it be that. Please don’t give up on it. You have a lot of talent with this, and that would be wonderful to see!
Let me try my comment again. WITHOUT the typos this time.

Pity about the print, I was really looking forward to it. I respect that you got to have your priorities.
As for the comic: I think Killdeer has something to do with this. Sometimes with little kids in karate they make the boards easy to break for confidence reasons.
