I can’t wait to see this page in color. And it will be, because guess what? Kailey Frizzell, my colorist on recent Axe Cop web comics has agreed to take over coloring duties on Bearmageddon. Soon, we will start posting in color again, and we will work our way through the backlog coloring the uncolored pages. I am planning to print a volume one at some point, probably in the 135-150 page range, which will be a great chapter break. Originally I wanted to get this whole comic done and make one book, but it turns out my estimate of the page count was conservative even then. This is turning into an ongoing series. There will still be an ending, but considering it could take a few more years to reach it, I would rather get this into book form and enjoy the process of making this my pet project that I can take my time on. I don’t want to rush it, and I can’t. This is the one project I continue to work on even though it does not make me much money.
Speaking of money, remember the Bear Battle Print? Yeah, I need to get to work on that. You guys are extremely patient, and I thank you for that. I’ve had a recent issue with my drawing software that has set me back. Not sure if it is a software or hardware issue, but I’m trying to resolve it because it is holding up my drawing process… large amount of work are disappearing from my files and I can’t risk drawing an epic print with that going on. Hopefully it gets resolved soon (and I’m thankful it didn’t start happening until after I met my recent Axe Cop deadline).
Ethan
He isn’t going to be careful, is he?
Welp.
Gogs is dead.
Ok, if Gogs dies before Nigel I will be very sad.
I will move from denial to acceptance quickly, but sadly.
While the bear war print is tempting, I’d rather use my Bearicature for the comic. 😀
To be honest, I think the black and white should stay. Less color to view makes people get more into the characters. For what it is worth.
Don’t get me wrong, I love black and white art. But good coloring can compliment it and I think a page like this with the sunrise and the colors of morning light would definitely have more atmosphere.
I love that first frame – it needs no color
Plot inconsistency! The bear’s head was in the back of the truck that Nigel stole!
I didn’t think I needed to spell it out. Dickinson says he’ll get Gogs a new bear head, and a few pages back they killed another bear. I figured the reader could assume this was the new bear head.
Assumption was correct. I look forward to this every week! Glad to see updates again 🙂
Ah, woops. I was reading over all the old comics, but skipped past that one.
This page is awesome. That rooftop sunrise is going to look very good in color!
Does DK need sleep?!
I assume when the stakes are high he can stay up, like a good soldier. He slept the night before.
It’s funny, because, well, he’s sharpening stakes on a roof.
Standing ovation!
Psalm 8! Awesome! I love seeing how Dickson’s character keeps getting deeper…
Psalm 8! At what age was Dickinson left in the woods? What was the influence behind bringing scripture into the comic? (I think it’s awesome by the way) Are you a Christian?
I won’t answer the questions about Dickinson, because that would be a spoiler. But I have hinted enough that he is a boy scout, and an old school boy scout, so I think he would definitely know some scripture. I will answer your question about me- yes!
I love seeing Christians using what they’re passionate about to spread the gospel / simply living in the world and not hiding away in their churches. I am intensely proud to call you a brother in Christ. Keep doing what youre doing. It’s awesome.
Kailey is going to do color? That’s great news. I love the work she does coloring Axe Cop.
Boom. I like where this is going. Still!
Can’t wait for the Vol. 1 print version.
To paraphrase Haddaway: “What is man? Beary, don’t hurt me.”
But then I recognized the Psalms quote too. Nice.
As jaklumen said, also…
What is a man? A miserable little pile of bear excrement! Have at you!
I have that verse on my skateboard, no lie
Nice! I have mine in my Bible. True story!
Yay, psalm 8!
Nitpick- the moon on the page with Nigel sobbing was full, but it’s a crescent in this one. Maybe there’s an eclipse going on? haha.
Oh man there are so many pages that aren’t in color yet. I’m not saying they aren’t good when they’re black and white, but most of them would be really cool in color. Just saying. :3
Lovely Bible reference. Very apt for this story (and pretty cool, just because)!
